Daphne

While the whole world seems to be at war, I am trying to find my way through my drawings. I remember I’d done another hand a while ago and that it’s a good alternative to start with. A good alternative when I can’t find a subject at once, but feel the need to draw. While I was at it, it reminded me of a statue made out of marble by Italian born sculptor Bernini. The story of Daphne & Apollo, where the woman turns into a tree. I remember very well the moment I first saw his work in Rome at Villa Borghese. Fascinated by the details in his work, and in all with his reality made out of stone.
